WSOC TVreports dozens of police officers are searching an east Charlotte apartment complex for a gunman after three teenagers were shot.
Police said the three victims are teenagers and are in school together.
Investigators are not releasing their names, ages or what school they attend.
Officials did say they are investigating whether the shooting started over a fight between them at an earlier date.
Officers received a 911 call of shots fired at the Hampton Commons Apartments on Milton Road.
Witnesses said gunshots rang out just after 3 p.m.

Channel 9 saw dozens of police cars and police investigators searching at the scene.
All three victims were taken to Carolinas Medical Center Main for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police marked off an area with crime scene tape where one man saw a victim get shot.
