Too young!

My Central Jersey reports the tri-town area of Milltown, Spotswood and East Brunswick woke up Sunday morning to the news of a tragic accident on Dutch Road Saturday night that claimed the lives of two local popular teenagers.

East Brunswick Police Lt. Kevin Zebro identified the victims as 17-year-old driver, Jeffrey Szatkowski, of Milltown and his 18-year-old passenger, Nicole Surace, of Milltown.

According to Zebro, the 2004 Ford Mustang operated by Szatkowski was traveling southbound on Dutch Road near Fresh Ponds Road at 7:50 p.m. The vehicle ran off the roadway striking a telephone pole, he said. The vehicle then turned over in the wooded area striking a tree and landing on its roof.

Both suffered serious injuries, police said. After the teenagers were extricated from the vehicle, they were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where they later died.
