Mercury News Police said they arrested a suspect Wednesday in connection with a weekend shooting in East San Jose that killed an 18-year-old man and marked the city's 44th homicide of the year.
According to the San Jose Police Department, someone suspected in the killing of 18-year-old Pedro Dado Cortez was arrested in the city around 8:30 p.m.
Officials did not release any more details about the arrest, including the identity of the suspect, saying they would wait until after the case was reviewed by the District Attorney's Office.
The deadly shooting was reported around 4 p.m. Saturday in the the 800 block of Peter Pan Avenue, near Capitol Park, for reports of gunfire and found Cortez, who once attended James Lick High School, suffering from at least one gunshot wound in the chest. He died at the scene.
Police have not announced a motive in the attack. The victim's relatives said they saw a black convertible Camaro pull up, and a gunman wearing a bandanna over his face opened fire at Cortez as he walked with two friends.Morehere
